Back on ice!

Long time no see... I’m sorry for not updating the page for such a long time, but not that much have happened this summer for obvious reasons. The last few weeks though have been exciting :) Started skating for real on the first of August back in Landvetter, and it felt great! After a lot of physiotherapy and boring exercises I was able to skate again. Actually I had a few sneak previews before that but now I could skate twice a day and even start jumping a little.
To recap I did the surgery in late April, followed by six weeks with crutches and easy movements (I call it movement, not training). Then I could start doing some more training, with some weights and everything. Also started swimming at this time if I remember correctly. A couple of weeks later I could start jogging on a fat mat (maybe there’s another word for it in english but it’s basically a big soft mat) and then on the floor. The strength was coming back but I still felt pain when stressing the hip and I didn’t have the same flexibility as in the other hip.
I tried skating a couple of times and it felt pretty good, but mostly I did it to remember how ice felt like and to get my feet in the boots (even old skates hurt after being of the ice for some time).
Now that I’ve been skating for I while I can definitely say it was worth it. The pain I had before is gone and I can start building towards the future. Everything is not super of course since I didn’t skate for three months, but slowly I’m getting back and I must say I’ve lost very little in feeling and so on. If I can just add a little strength and stamina plus a great new program this season will be the best yet!
