Two weeks ago I went to Romania for the third competition of the season. After Japan I had worked hard both on and off the ice and the days before going to Galati, Romania I felt ready.
It was a short trip, left thursday morning and went home again sunday morning, so we didn’t really see much of Romania.
The short program started great with a triple axel, then I landed my combination but fell on the flip. Unfortunately the combination was not fully rotated so I lost a few points there, but the spins and steps were much better than earlier in the season. I was second after short.
I the free program I skated last, so I had a long wait before my program. But I stayed focused on myself and the task ahead. I started with a flip-toe combination followed by a triple axel-double toe combination, a nice start. I then doubled the lutz but quickly recovered with a triple loop. The second triple axel was the best element of the program and the steps and spins were again the best of the season. I was very happy with my free skate which gave me 130.82 points and the gold!
Right now I’m preparing for nationals this weekend. Last week was not so good, had to stay at home due to a cold and sore throat. But I will go on the ice again today and I have a few days left to prepare. It’s going to be exciting and I look forward to skating even better than in Romania!
